Worms and Dirt

This assembly teaches the basics of the natural cycles of life and the importance of recycling Nature’s way. The problems of burying organic materials in a landfill and the opportunities in making compost are highlighted. Students feel and smell components of soil and even have a face-to-face experience with worms. Lively songs, like, Dirt Made my Lunch, The Composters, Inch by Inch, and Why Don’t Ya’ Put Me in the Compost Pile create a fun and educational mood.

Stan customizes the assembly for his clients based specifically on their educational needs. Drawing from his broad experience and knowledge (Stan was National Compost Educator of the Year in 2000), he’s presented at The World’s Largest County Fair in Spencer, IA and dozens of “organic” venues.

Recommended for grades 3 and up

The Advance CD

Stan mails a custom CD to the school well in advance of the program. The CD contains the songs that Stan will perform in the assembly, the lyrics, hand gestures, and educational resources. The music teacher then helps the students become familiar with the songs. When the students know the songs in advance the program becomes much more exciting for the students and teachers report better behavior and attention.
